How do I mark the ball with a PUTT-A-LINE?

To use the PUTT-A-LINE to mark your ball, simply place the device with the concave end in close proximity to the ball on the green. As long as the ball remains on the green, the PUTT-A-LINE may be re-positioned so that the groove on the PUTT-A-LINE is aimed at the intended line of the putt. When you are satisfied that the PUTT-A-LINE is properly aimed, pick up your ball and replace it so that the line on the ball is aligned with the groove on the PUTT-A-LINE. Carefully remove the PUTT-A-LINE and make your putt feeling confident that the line on the ball is aimed at your intended target.

How do I use the PUTT-A-LINE during the round of golf?

To avoid distracting other players, it is suggested that the initial marker used to mark the ball on the green be a conventional marker (coin, etc.) When it is the player’s turn to putt, the ball should be replaced and re-marked with the PUTT-A-LINE. However, depending on your position on the green, if you are not distracting other players, you may consider using the PUTT-A-LINE to line up your putt before it is your turn, so that when the time comes to putt, your line will have already been established. When used in this manner, and being courteous to other players, using the PUTT-A-LINE Ball Marker can actually save time for those players who routinely take the time to aim the line on their ball with their intended line of putt.

When using a PUTT-A-LINE product there are several factors to consider:

There is a learning curve when using the PUTT-A-LINE. Try using it on the practice green on short, straight putts to develop a routine for placing and aiming the PUTT-A-LINE and replacing the ball in order to establish confidence in the accuracy of the line on the ball. Like all aspects of your golf game, you can’t expect to get great results without putting in the practice. When reading putts with significant break, you can actually plumb-bob the line on the PUTT-A-LINE. Try this …it works. You can also use the shaft of your putter to sight down the line of the PUTT-A-LINE and check where it is actually aiming, prior to re-positioning the ball. When stroking the putt, be careful to think of the speed as you watch your putter go through the ball along the pre-inscribed line. In other words, don’t focus so much on line that you forget about speed.

For any good putting stroke, try not to move your head. Immediately after you have made your stroke, your eyes should be focused on the grass where the ball used to be! Remind yourself to do this before every putt and you will make a more solid and predictable stroke.

If you have lined your ball up with the PUTT-A-LINE, and you’ve putted the ball squarely, the line on the ball should roll end over end. If you notice the line is wobbly, it is an indication that the roll is not true. This may require an adjustment to the lie of the putter or the position of the ball.

Remember, good putting is a combination of equipment, technique, and nerve. Practicing with the right equipment and technique will inspire confidence, and confidence will conquer nerve.
